Rider weight: 155lbs
Board Size :154
Bindings/boots: Malavita/Ions
Days ridden: 1 Season on the east coast & B.C. trip
Intended Rider and Board Size:
This board is ideal if your looking for one board to do it all, but only if you MAINLY ride park, and you don't ride pipe or insanely big jumps. I downsized one size smaller since I was riding mainly park and with the raduction technology they say that you can downsize...but I don't see the point...from what I find, downsizing just get you less board for the money: since this ALREADY is an amazing park board, downsizing makes your snowboard less versatile on the rest of the mountain.
Board Review:
I kind of have a love hate relationship with this board...its does everything well...the park jibs are truly awesome... and it butters like crazy, but I find you don't need that loose of a board to ride the park.
The squeeze box is what makes this board. You expect this stupid noodle to start chattering at speeds, but it just doesn't, even if you straight line it down the mountain. That being said, the board doesn't chatter, but it's not really stable at speeds. When going fast you always have be holding a thin carve or the tail starts going left to right. You can still keep up with all mountain boards, but you only if you're committed.
I accept that this board is primarily a park board, so I can't compare it to all mountains boards...still, it's that good for a park board that I'm able to compare it. The only issue I really have with it is that the carves you make are never rewarding, they just get the job done. You never feel like you're locked into a circular carve, the board just sluggishly turns...this may be due to it's larger than average waist width. Another way to describe the turning of the board is that you kind of have to make the tail step out like when riding icy moguls. In comparison, my friend has an Arbor Blacklist and that's even more of a noodle but the slow speed carving lines always feed locked in.
Conclusion: The superhero is an expensive park board that rides great...but that's what you come to expect from a costly park board...I'd look somewhere else...there are so many boards to choose from...maybe a stiffer park board.
