Dog Boarding Tahoe or Portland

Random for the forum but with so many apparent dog owners here and all of us traveling I figured maybe someone has experience boarding their pup in either Tahoe (South Lake preferably) or Portland.
Driving down to Tahoe at the end of a month for a week long wedding thing. Unfortunately house doesn't allow us to bring the pup with. Trying to find a somewhat inexpensive place to set him up at. Tahoe likely would be more expensive but if we boarded him there it would likely let us save a night or two expenses as we wouldn't have to worry about dropping him off the night before we leave (Walter Cronkite loves car rides and makes a good road trip companion so that would be another plus). Just trying to find an affordable place in either location or possibly somewhere in between. Tons of places at $45+ a night which is just a little rich for us. Recommendations or experiences anybody?
