Where to go for one month from Australia?

Greetings,
I'd originally planned to go to Japan for a month this year but work commitments have wiped out the idea of travelling till at least March which sort of rules that out.
Soooo, I'm thinking a month at a US resort might be the go for some late season pow. I've boarded Whistler and Big White in Canada a decent amount so was looking for a slight change.
What I'm looking for is decent terrain (with park), relatively uncrowded, decent nightlife and if possible a hostel to stay in (haha not asking for much am I?).
Possible considerations were Breckenridge, Park City, Lake Tahoe and possibly Jackson Hole.
Any opinions on my choices or any new locations I've skipped over?
