Slyders family trip (long)

Well gang I'm (we) are all back in one piece. Me, my kids, kids friends & dad and Deacon.
Mt Bohemia was at first glance way steeper than anything I have ever ridden before. In addition to that there are only 4 open trail runs, nearly everything else is glades and some bluffs.
Our first runs had me 2nd guessing if I had the skill to ride here for 5 days. As the day progressed I got more comfortable. The pic doesn't translate well into the steepness and yes I'm sure many of you have ridden much more extreme.

Deacon and I started getting used to the terrain and started exploring the hill. Tons of trees and no clue where we were heading, we just kinda followed a few lines, grabbed some untracked snow when possible and made our way down the hill.
There was fresh snow from a few days before we got there but a lot of packed out trails to follow. Those got a little sketchy for me time to time, lots of times actually. I tried finding clean lines when possible and when I did it was a blast.

On the 3rd day Deacon and I found some open runs that were a blast. Thought they were way over our ability but were some of our best runs. It was fairly steep, tons of moguls, some nice drops and a large bluff right in the center of the run. We stayed in the powder to the sides mostly and some stuff in the middle after the bluffs.

Here is a pic of Deacon and his board sinking into the snow. As we got off the track a bit you would sink mid thigh at times. We found this out as we went off area that required hiking out. NOW we know what you guys mean about hiking out of deep powder, exhausting ! But was a blast riding down into.

so you kinda get the feel of the trip.
NOW the bad.......

My middle son and his buddy separated from the group and decided to run down a run. After a while no one had seen or heard from the boys. It was 2 hours before close. We had no cell coverage or walkie talkies at this point. I started to worry, I went to SP to see if they were in the yurt. No one was there, good but now worse. More time passed and more worry set in. Back to SP yurt. We now put out an A.P.B on them, full description. Well about 2.5 hours passed and we ended up getting a message from my wife they were sitting on the side of the road but we weren't really sure where or how far from the resort. So Deacon and I got in the car and started driving the road. We found them a little over a mile down the road and they hiked probably 2 miles away from the resort through 3 feet of powder till they found the road. LUCKILY !!! When we got to them they were fine, soaked to the bone. We got them back to the cabin and immediately started getting them warm.
I never would have thought they could get lost here as this is a bigger hill than we are used to but nothing like out west. Still more than this parent needed to be scared shitless and all turned out well but very easily could have been much worse !!
So the snow wasn't the best and the last day was an ice skating rink so we decided to head to my buddies cabin to play. A little snowmobiling, urban snowboarding and atv's a great way for the kids to end the week.

Well this is long enough, you get the point.
We had a great time, I truly tested my riding ability as well as questioned my riding ability. Hoping to make it back up for one more small trip this season. We'll see what time brings.
