Advice needed on new board (Burton Ripcord)

d
Hello everyone i'm after some real advice about a new board not just advice from some guy in a store that's just pushing the most expensive board they have in stock, and sorry if this post is a bit long winded i just what to put as much info as i can.

I've been riding 2 seasons now and would class myself as at the top end of beginner or maybe even the very bottom end of intermediate on a good day

6,5, size 13 boots, 211lb, ride all mountain no park (at the moment)
Currently riding a 5150 stoke 164w, however i find that to make this board do what i want i really have to throw all my weight at it, everything seems to require a lot of effort nothing really flows, I've been told the problem may be that the board is actually too long and i should try a shorter board.

A local store has a really good deal on a 162W Burton Ripcord package so i'm wondering would i notice much of a change going from a 164 to a 162?
Also since i'm not a complete new beginner would the Ripcord actually be a good choice since it seems to be a entry level type board or am i likely to outgrow it quite quickly?

Thanks for any help
