So it's almost season over here in the lower East Coast for me and I've spent a good amount of time on this board. Here's the current setup used for most of the season.
Burton Nug 150 (Flat Rocker profile)
Burton Cartel EST
Thirty-Two Lashed FT
I did most of my time riding on the East Coast with this board in almost every type of snow and condition imaginable. Ice, powder, hard pack, corn snow, and slush. For the most part it rides well in most. I don't believe in hype of new technologies or fads most often and this in my first Burton channel board so I felt if I was going to set this up I was going full EST and using Burton's bindings too. My impression on the channel is awesome. Very easy to dial in that perfect setup. Also not having much plastic and zero hardware under foot makes a difference when coming up flat in the park or riding past that eighth hour. I'm very surprised the board and bindings have held up to the abuse I've handed it.
The board itself is quite good though with only a few flaws. First off at speed it rides like a 160 while it's only a 150. At slower speeds or in the park jibbing it handles like a 150. Landing jumps is surprising easy for the length of the board and haven't had much issues stomping anything but I'm also not throw forty foot airs either. The scoop nose and tail along with the flat profile makes it feel catch free even a slow speeds.
Now for the issues I've got with it first off the flat profile and stiffer board makes for some reason Ollie power suffer. Not as much tail snap as other rocker boards I've rode. The shorter size makes it not optimal for deep pow. If it's an inch or two fine, get past six to eight inches of fresh your going to fight to keep that nose up. But thankfully with the EST is super easy to set the bindings back which helps out a little. Finally Burton like to say their Frost Bite edges are as good as Lib-Tech's Magna-Traction. I'm here to say not even close. I've got a few Lib's and in East Coast Ice and bullet-proof hard pack they are best. Much better than Burton by a lot.
All in all great quiver stick that can be ridden away from the park even at a small size. Does a great job all around the mountain. Still pow or really icy days it's not the best choice. Looking for a park board that can be ridden anywhere on the mountain all in small sized package? This is a great choice, got a lot of time on it and still riding it till the end of the season.
