Sizing for Banana Magic?

d
So I recently made the switch from traditional camber a few years ago and got a rocker camber hybrid. After research I ended up getting the 166W GNU Riders Choice. Love the C2btx and magtrax. Really helps me with ice/hardpack on the east coast. However, I noticed an issue with the board this season. I did some tree runs into the glade territory and the board felt like a TANK. I'm sure part of that is due to my riding ability, I know I need to practice tree runs. But I don't think that the board was doing me any favors.

I'm 6'6" tall at 200lbs with a size 13 boot. I feel like I made a mistake and got a board that's straight up too big. I'm an intermediate rider that likes to bomb down the hill and do some good carving. Don't do park riding. I really want a board that will allow me charge the hill, carve hard, ride in powder for west coast trips, and be agile enough to go thru trees runs. I also want to improve my riding and add some freestyle in my runs: basic butters, small jumps on the side of a run.

After research I feel that the Banana Magic fits that riding profile. I've seen varying reviews online, but I think that it would work well for the most part. Does anyone have personal experience on the Banana Magic on how it rides or performs?

Also, I definitely want to size down. I feel that this would give me more board control, flexibility to do some small freestyle tricks, and agility thru trees. I just don't know if a 162W or 158W is the best for me. I've heard that with Mervin boards, you can ride a board that is 3-6cm shorter that normal camber board. Is there some truth to that? Also, does the effective edge and contact length on these boards differ from traditional camber boards? I feel that WiredSport might be able to help with that.

Sorry for the long post. Just want to get this right and not make another expensive mistake.
