Why I love shopping local

So as many of you know I have been friends with a guy that is the manager of my local shop. I've been going there for 4 of my 5 years. Sorry I didn't know better the 1st year I was still new.
I stop in to just say hi, chat with him and the staff and return some gear I was borrowed. I"m looking for a park only rail board for next season. We get that all worked out, got some great leads on what to do and the home-boy hook up. Should work well for me.
As were talking, my Mt Bohemia trip comes up and he says I need to talk with his other employee. He rides there a LOT. I didn't know this as he runs the ski side as he's a skier.
Man did I learn a lot about this resort. Got my stoke on to make another trip yet this season. He is going next week, I wish I could go with him. I'm on vacation the following week and may try to make this happen.
He shared many of the runs that are best to hit, general stories, and just shared experiences on some of the runs we took. What to watch for terrain wise etc.
I shared my terror story of my son and his best friend getting lost. Still shakes me.
2 hours later....
You just don't get this kinda experience from an online retailer (no kidding) or big box store.
Looking forward to talking with him more in the future and now I have an in on conditions at the resort as he has a direct connection to the resort. So I can better plan a trip or spontaneous trip next season.
Nothing majorly exciting, just some great off-season time with a buddy and always making new friends be it snowboarder or skier.
