Camber board advice for a messed up knee issue

d
Hey,

I got a knee issue that got me thinking about camber & if camber can help me.

I have been looking at the Lib Tech Skate Banana & other rocker boards

I am looking for some camber advice to help me with a knee issue.

I have been researching different cambers, but struggling to understand how I can apply it for me. I am struggling with the 'pop' what part of the camber pops more than others? One I think I want to avoid is pop under my left leg.

I am only a beginner boarder & have always used rented stuff, but because of my issues it took us a while to find a combination of board, boot & binding I could work with. Unfortunate I knew nothing about boarding beforehand, so have no idea what the setup was :facepalm1:

As I have no guarantee I will be able to be accommodated by the rental shop, I have decided to buy some beginner equipment for myself. A board, some rear entry bindings & I plan on wearing a knee support that will limit my knee bend to about 40 degrees.

To give a quick outline of my knee issue - i have a permanent dislocation of the knee cap. I bend my knee, my knee cap moves to the outside. I got a fair bit of muscle wastage in my thigh just above the knee - and I have a bucket meniscus tear. Oh & where my femur & tibia meet, they are slightly twisted - which is the cause of all the problems. I refuse to have any surgery (im nearly 40, and have had the knee issue all my life & find it a pointless at my age).

The biggest issue all that cause is basically body support & weight distribution. I am a resillient guy & have always found a way to workaround this issue. I think the solution for me will be somewhere in the camber

my lame knee I can bend easily enough, however the further then bend, the more difficult it is to straighten again (hence the knee brace). I am quite reliant on my good leg.

Oh & i dunno if it makes any difference, but when turning with the bad knee I have to use my shoulder lean to turn, rather than my knee. Might sound strange, but its what works for me.

sorry for rambling & wall of information. :hairy:
