Re-Finished top sheet of snowboard. Buffed out scratches and scuff - Restored shine.

d
Found a good deal on a Custom X (2012) on eBay, bought it, but the top sheet looked rough. In order to really get that "Yay, I got a new snowboard" feeling, I decided to give the top sheet a quick detailing.

What I used

  • 2500 Grit Sand Paper (For wet sand)

  • Meguiars m105 Ultra-Cut Compound

  • Meguiars M7 Mirror Glaze

What was done:

First I wet sanded the entire top sheet with the 2500 grit sandpaper with warm water and some dishwasher soap. I went over the entire top sheet twice with a little extra elbow greese for deeper scratches. I could have used a more aggressive level sand paper but I wanted to stay safe.

Once I sanded down the clear coat and got close to the paint, I applied 4 coats of the compound to get the clear coat back on. I had to really rub it in there to get the coat back on.

After the compound I applied 1 coat of the mirror glaze to give it that final shiny finish.

The board didn't come out looking 100% factory, but its a whole lot better than how I got it.

Here are the before and afters:
