Loon or Mt. Snow?

I'm taking Wednesday off work and I was planning on heading to Loon (by myself) for the day, but now I'm considering going to Mt. Snow. This will be my first time going somewhere other than Wachusett (MA), which I frequent about 2-3x per week.
I'm planning on getting there at opening, hopefully getting first chair, and quitting maybe an hour before closing. Ideally, I'd like the mountain with the least weekday crowds, but also with enough trails to keep me busy for the entire day. It's my second season and although I'm comfortable on the blacks at my local mountain, I doubt they can really be compared to blacks at larger mountains... so I'd probably be sticking to blues no matter where I go.
Which mountain would be the best choice? It seems like Mt. Snow has the most intermediate trails (and trails in general), but would that mean it would also be the most crowded? I saw they have a race league on Wednesdays from 10a.m. to 2p.m., so I'm sure that will be drawing some crowds.
As a side question, is there anything I should know about larger mountains in general? I'm pretty sure when I get there I'll be like a lost kid in a candy store.
