Is it worth it?

I just got a new 2014 Rome Tour but was thinking of getting a Rossignol Accelerator 155 XL locally for $50. The boards are old rentals. Bases are in okay shape, couple of rail dings and scratches. Was thinking this could be a beater board for the crappy conditions so I don't scratch up the Rome on shallow snow. This is east coast I'm talking about. Like now, the snow is melting and the season is winding down, so the ground is starting to show. I plan on riding a lot next season. I figure this board I can also use to learn waxing and fixing and tuning some. The edges seem decent still too. But does the $50 range seem decent for a beat up board? Or should I watch the sale area on here? i guess the XL is their wide board? It was wider than the L. Rome is a 159w so wanted something a little shorter too to play on. I know TT on here has had some great boards for sale too fairly cheap. Thoughts or suggestions?
