1st Snowboard trip this weekend- Need advice on headwear

Hi everyone! Total noob here to both the forum and to snowboarding. I will be heading to Vermont on Thursday for 5 days. Taking the family (2 kids- 8 and 6 plus the wife). All are total beginners. We will be renting our boards and boots but I bought helmets and goggles for everyone. My question is about headwear. I assume it will be quite cold up there so should I buy headwear for everyone? The last thing I want is whiny kiddos. Plus I don't want to be too cold either since I hear the chairlifts at the resort are slow.



I have fleece but have learned it causes my goggles to fog and they get wet too quickly from my breath.



So 2 questions really:



Is the helmet warm enough for my ears?

What head/neckwear do you recommend? Buff, gaiter etc???
