Footbed to decrease volume over top of foot?

Anybody have footbed recommendations for a thick but firm bed that will make it so there's less volume over the top of my foot? I have a wide, square foot, but not a very tall instep, so to get a boot that fits width-wise I wind up having a very loose fit over the top of my foot and feel like I have to winch down on my Boas to get them tight enough. I'd never paid any attention to insoles before, but I'm in the process of looking for ski boots right now, and they seem to make a HUGE difference in how ski boots fit.
