Gore tex vs Non Gore tex pants and jacket

Im just wondering if anyone has really noticed a difference or is Gore tex selling off their name. I currently just use 10,000mm waterproof gear and have no issues with getting wet but im ordering new gear and just wanted to make sure I'm not missing out on something.
