Jones Mountain Twin 160 or 161W or something completely different?

d
Hi everyone,

It's been over 13 years since the last time I've been snowboarding. Quite a while. I've been wanting to go for all the 13 years, but life got in the way I guess. :facepalm2:

Anyway, I got new snowboarding gear now and the only thing missing now are board & bindings, I've been looking at boards for the past week or so and the Jones Mountain Twin seems like it might be pretty good for me.

My shoes are Burton Ion size 11 (44 European).

I weigh about 90 kg (200 lb) naked, altho that'll drop to around 82 kg (180 lb) by next summer. I'm 186 cm (6'1" I think).

My current board is some 15 year old Option Supercap 166 and it is kinda long I guess. Also it seems to be almost impossible to set up the bindings properly, so that toe and heel drag are about the same. I do remember having problems with this board/bindings before. I blamed the shoes back then though as my old Airwalks were way too flexible. The Option has a 25,5 cm waist and I get a bit less than 2 cm of overhang on both sides now that I adjusted the bindings to the extreme. I've had the front binding at about 20° and rear around 9°.

I like normal riding about, not jumping much or doing any tricks or anything, certainly no rails etc. Powder I absolutely love, but so far it's sadly been very rare for me. The hills we have here in Finland are nothing special. Low and crappy mostly. But I do think I'll arrange some sort of a trip to the Alps at some point to get to ride proper mountains.

I'd like to get better in every aspect of snowboarding, but I don't think I'll be going to the half pipe or the park, but never say never. :)

So, what do you think, would the Jones Mountain Twin suit me well and should I go for the 160 (25,6 cm waist) or the 161W (26 cm waist)? If you think something else than the Mountain Twin would suit me better, I'm all ears.

Other boards I've been looking at are the Capita BSOD 162 and Lib Tech TRS 162. I realize these are all very different boards, but most others I've discarded earlier for one reason or another. The Capita I think might be better suited to faster riding, but less so for general mucking about or riding switch (both of which I suck at though :)). The TRS would probably be worse than the Jones or the Capita in powder, which I guess is the main reason I've put that in third place. Also I don't want to spend a crazy amount of money and I don't want a Burton or any ski maker board like Salomon or Rossignol. Sales are going on atm, so now is a good time to buy, but selection can be limited.

tl;dr: Burton Ion size 11, 180-200 lb dude, all mountain board, not much tricks, gotta work in powder. Jones Mountain Twin 160 or 161W or something entirely different?

Thanks. :)
